3rd September Colin Turner - The Great Train Robbery 1963

Colin Turner has been a Lawyer, Clerk of the Court/Prosecutor & Defence Advocate/Examiner in Criminal Law for the Law Society and Adviser to the BBC on a Crime Series, Colin has a wealth of Stories covering Humour, Sadness, Bad Behaviour and the Rest.

GREAT TRAINROBBERY 1963 is a talk on how a Group of Robbers planned and executed the ‘Crime of the Century.’  How the Flying Squad ultimately arrested and charged the robbers, the court proceedings, sentences and what became of the Robbers. 

6th August John Wyatt - Explosive Effects and 3 Assassinations

Educated at University of Cape Town, and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, John spent 23 years in the British Army, mostly as a Bomb Disposal Officer. He then had a short spell with MI6 before starting his own High Risk Security Company. He was awarded the MBE for gallantry in 1985 and obtained a PhD in explosive engineering in the early 90’s. He still works part-time after 60 continuous years in counter terrorism.

His talk on 6^th August, 2026 looked at the science behind explosive effects on bodies and buildings and these were illustrated by what happened in the investigation of three assassinations in which John was involved, telling the real story of what actually happened in each case.
